MICROWAVE OVEN RADIATION SAFETY TEST

It has recently been confirmed by Government Testing Authorities that it is possible for microwave ovens to emit radiation levels that exceed the Australian Standard and international emission limit, although having no evidence of physical damage.

Under the Australian Standards 60335.2.25 (3350.2.25) and National Health & Medical Research Council guidelines have been put in place for permissible levels of radiation leakage from microwave ovens used in workplaces and public environments.

Employer's have a "duty of Care" to control radiation leakage from microwave ovens in the workplace. Employers can ensure this responsibility is discharged by having their ovens tested and checked in accordance with National Health & Research Council Procedures.

WHO CAN HELP?

TELEFIX will arrange a qualified Technician to come out to your premises and perform a safety and leakage test consisting of a three point safety analysis including a radiation leakage test to ensure radiation levels do not exceed safe levels in accordance with the Australian Standard (AS3350.2.25). A power output reading to ensure the microwave is operating to its full potential and physical damage inspection to ensure correct functioning and safety.

All leakage meters are tested and calibrated by the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency and are in accordance with the procedures described in the ARPANSA Quality Manual

It is recommended that a safety test is performed every 12 months.
